The Pratt Lady Greenbacks opened the Tournament of Champions with an extremely easy 71-13 win over the overmatched Wichita North junior varsity.

The ladies would get on the scoreboard early and often as Aubrey Hoover had four of her game-high 22 points in the first minute. The onslaught continued as Jenson Maydew and Dominique Staats got baskets followed by eight straight points by Hoover and then a three by Haylie Hook and the Greenbacks were up 19-0 with 2:25 left in the quarter.

North got on the board with a free throw but the Greenbacks scored the last six points of the quarter for a 25-1 lead.

The Greenbacks didn’t let down in the second quarter as they scored the first eight points  before a North field goal. With the bench getting emptied Pratt would get the last eight points of the second quarter for a 41-3 halftime advantage.

The Lady Greenbacks opened the second half like they played in the first as they continued to score at will against the Redskins.  Payton Hoeme scored eight of the first 14 Greenback points of the third quarter which took a total of 3 1/2 minutes to push the lead out to 55-3.  The last half of the quarter became a little sloppy as Pratt only outscored North by a point.

The fourth quarter was played with a running clock and Pratt would only get nine points and North four. The Greenbacks on the night had 22 assists lead by Staats with five. Two other Greenbacks joined Hoover in double figures with Maydew getting 12 and Martha Ramos getting a season high 10 points.  Ten of the 11 players that suited up played in all four quarters and the eleventh played in three.

Friday the Pratt Lady Greenbacks will play the Wichita South Titans in the semi-finals of the Tournament of Champions. The Titans are currently 7-4 on the year as they beat Larned Thursday 36-22.  They are also on a 3-game winning streak as their last lost was to Wichita Heights 42-34 on January 10th.  This game will tip off at 6 p.m. at the Pratt High School gym.
