The Pratt Community College basketball teams lost both games to the Hutchison Blue Dragons on Wednesday as the women fell 74-45 and the men 89-67.

The Lady Beavers struggled to score against the 3rd ranked Dragons as they shot only 28 percent in the first half, including going one for nine behind the 3-point line as they fell behind 32-17.

The second half was not any kinder to the Lady Beavers as Hutch outscored Pratt 42-28 during the period. The Lady Beavers made only 30 percent of their shots for the game and had 23 turnovers.

Ann Pauly was the only player in double figures as she scored 12 points.  Cari Guyton pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds and Whitney Bates had six assists and Sara Johnson had four.

In the men’s game the Blue Dragons used a season-best 61 percent shooting and their height advantage to get the win.  The Beavers were very much in the game early as they were able to shoot 55 percent during the first half but a run during the late stages of the half saw the Beavers fall behind 38-27.

The Dragons kept up their torrid shooting pace while Pratt cooled off and they also got into foul trouble.

Bryton Hobbs would get a game-high 28 points and he also added seven assists.  Tayler Rock scored 14 points and Aaron Abram had six rebounds.

Today the teams travel to Great Bend to take on the Barton Cougars as the first game starts at 6:00.

The 11-9 Lady Beavers will be looking to get their second Jayhawk West win as the Cougars are 3-3 in conference play and 13-7 overall and are coming off an 61-58 win over Colby.

The men, 10-10 overall and 1-5 in the KJCCC, will be facing the 10th ranked Cougars who are 18-2 on the season and 4-2 in league play.  Barton beat Colby on Wednesday 88-65.
