Pratt girls claim tournament championship, Skyline denied

The Pratt Greenbacks defeated previously unbeaten St. John Tigers 40-29 for the championship at the Pratt Girls Tournament of Champions Saturday night. Senior Aubrey Hoover was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Skyline was denied the championship by one point in the 54 Girls Basketball Tournament at Cunningham, falling to Norwich 38-37. Anna Petrowsky won the tournament free-throw contest. Kaitlyn Stark won the 3-point contest, was named to the All-Tournament team and received the Hustle Award.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday night. The Greenbacks travel to Lyons for varsity, junior varsity and C team games for both girls and boys, with games at 4:30, 6 and 7:30. Skyline hosts Stafford, with games at 4, 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m.
