The Pratt High girls golf team opened up its season Tuesday at the Nickerson Invitational Golf Tournament at the Highlands Golf Course.

Of the 12 teams competing, Pratt finished fourth behind Andale, Cheney and Maize with a combined score of 239.

The Greenbacks also had two top-20 finishers in Jordi Garrett and Samantha Snell, who tied for 10th, both shooting a 54 on the nine-hole round.

“I’m proud of the way the team competed,” said head coach Kerry Thieme. “The girls weren’t too proud of their individual scores, but we were able to finish high as a team on a very tough course.”

The other three members of the varsity team helped contribute to the good team score, with Abby Skaggs shooting a 65 and Anna Stotts and Ellie Eastes shooting a 66.

The girls golf team plays joins the JV squad on a trip to Medicine Lodge for a tournament on Sept. 7.
