Pratt, Kan. -

Scoring the first 12 points of the game set the Liberty Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team up for an easy 25-11 win over the Dodge City Sacred Heart Cougars yesterday at LMS.
The Lady Greenbacks got on the board a minute into the contest when point guard Lauren Rambat got an offensive rebound and putback.
Jenson Maydew scored the next four points for LMS, the last two coming on a putback with 2:01 left in the quarter.
With a minute left, Jaci Kolm was fouled and hit both free throws for an 8-0 Lady Greenback lead.
In the first quarter, Liberty outrebounded Dodge City 8-3 and put up 11 shots to the Cougars’ three. LMS also forced five Sacred Heart turnovers.
Thirty seconds into the second quarter, Bailey Gillig found Aubrey Will alone under the basket. Will drained the shot, making it 10-0 Liberty.
The Cougars didn’t even get a shot off before Rambat stole the ball and laid it in for a 12-0 advantage.
Belinda Reyes finally got her team on the board with a jump shot at the 3:55 mark, and Rachel Durler added a free throw and a basket to make it 12-5 at halftime.
But Liberty started the third quarter with an 8-0 run to make it 20-5 when Kolm scored on an assist from Morgan Strong at the 2:33 mark.
Sacred Heart’s Sara Robinson scored with 1:36 left, and Kolm hit a free throw with ten seconds left, making it 21-7 after three.
A jumper by Kolm and a layup from Rambat were the only baskets the Lady Greenbacks got in the fourth quarter, but they also held the Cougars to four points, easily preserving the win.
Rambat led all scorers with eight points and five steals, while Kolm added seven points.
Bailey Gillig chipped in with four points, two steals and an assist, while Maydew added four points, three steals, and five rebounds.
Will scored two points, and Dani Williams had three steals. Strong dished out three assists and had a steal for LMS.
Durler led the Cougars with five points.
Sacred Heart outrebounded the Lady Greenbacks 31-18, but the Cougars also had 26 turnovers in the contest.
