Andale, Kan. -

Monday evening, the Liberty Middle School seventh grade football team finished their season with a late rally that fell just short in a 20-16 loss to Andale.
The Greenbacks were down 14-0 at half, and Andale stretched the lead to 20-0 in the third quarter.
Later in the third, Dakota Venard got the Greenbacks on the scoreboard with a 40-yard touchdown run. Adam Bartel ran in the conversion to make it 20-8 Andale.
In the fourth quarter, Bartel threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Drake Evert, and Bartel added the conversion run to make it a one-possession game at 20-16.
“LMS had one more opportunity inside a minute to play but came up short,” LMS head coach Mike Forshee said.
Josh Ash and Wayde Freeman had sacks, while Dustin Franklin and Ethan Sharp had fumble recoveries.
Trevor Hassler and Derek Barnard made some big plays on defense, according to Forshee.
Nick Koler and Evert had pass receptions for the Greenbacks.
"We didn't wrap-up and tackle real well in the first half,” seventh grade coach Steve Strecker said. “The outcome could have been different if we had.”
The seventh grade team finished 4-3 on the season.
