An older, more experienced Alva, Okla., team handed the Pratt Junior American Legion squad a pair of losses last night in Alva.
Pratt managed just five hits all night as they lost the opener 10-1 and the nightcap 12-4.
Brady Batman’s leadoff single in the top of the first and Justin Schneider’s single in the second were Pratt’s only hits of the first game.
Austin Barnard scattered six hits as he took the loss.
In the second game, Alva picked right up where they left off, scoring eight runs in the first inning to take command early.
Jamie Hitt singled to lead off the second, and his courtesy runner Jarod Gilmore came around to score on Justin Gilmore’s double with one out.
Pratt retired Alva in order in the second inning as third baseman B.J. Dean threw two straight runners out at first base and shortstop Justin Gilmore also threw to Batman at first for an out.
Batman and Tyler Forshee each singled as Pratt picked up two runs in the third, and Jake Siroky had an RBIāsingle in the fifth to score Barnard.
Pratt will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they face Wichita Collegiate at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Wichita.
The team’s next home games will be Tuesday, June 30 against Kingman at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Smoky Ford Field.
