Scripture: Deuteronomy (NIV) 7:17 You may say toyourselves, “These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive themout?” 18 But do not be afraid of them; remember well what the LORD your God did to Pharaohand to all Egypt. 19 You saw with your own eyes the great trials, themiraculous signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with whichthe LORD your God brought you out. The LORD your God will do the same to allthe peoples you now fear.
Observation: AsMoses was preparing the Israelites to conquer the Promised Land, he calls upontheir memory. In these chapters, theword 'remember' is used many times. Moses reviews many of the things God had done in bringing them out ofEgypt"things done in their lifetime! God will finish what He started! He will not leave them stranded in the wilderness! He brought them out of Egypt in order tobring them into the Promised Land!
Application: It is good not to let my memory of God'sdealing in my life fade into the distant past. By remembering them, by considering them, by using my active thoughts toreview them"they come out of my past into my present. The lessons I learned in the past can beapplied to the problems I have in the present. That is 'remembering well' -living in the present with wisdom gainedfrom the past!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, you have been with me every dayof my 70+ years. I have so much historyfrom which to draw wisdom. Help me to 'rememberwell.' Amen
