December 10, 2019: SOAP #3659: 2Timothy 1-4
Scripture: 2Timothy (NIV) 4:1 [The Apostle Paul toTimothy] In the presence of God and ofChrist Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of hisappearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the Word; beprepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage"with greatpatience and careful instruction.
Observation: Onemight have a question as to how is it possible to be prepared for both 'inseason and out of season' ministry? 'Inseason' is understandable because ministry opportunity is happening asexpected. Often the 'in season' ministryhas a season for preparation set prior to the ministry.
Preparation for 'out of season' ministry is another story. How can one prepare for what they do not knowis coming?
Application: The only way I know how to be always prepared:allow the Holy Spirit to make the preparations in me. For me that means I must be faithful in God'sWord every day. As I am reading andmeditating on God's word, the Holy Spirit, who knows the future, opens my heartand mind to verses and thoughts that prepare me for what I am about toencounter.
Prayer: HolySpirit, I depend on you to keep me prepared and I know you depend on me to keepreading the Bible and listening for you to speak to me. Amen
