Scripture: Genesis (NIV) 9:11 [God to Noah] Iestablish my covenant with you: Never again will all life becut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroythe earth.”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am makingbetween me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for allgenerations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds 14 WheneverI bring clouds 15 I willremember my covenant between me and you 16 Whenever the rainbow appears inthe clouds, I will see it and remember 17 So God said to Noah,“This is the sign of the covenant I have established betweenme and all life on the earth.”
Observation: Manmust be very important to God! Acovenant is an agreement between two parties, yet this covenant is offered byonly one party, it is guaranteed by only one party, only one party gives a sign, and only one party promises to see the sign of the covenant and rememberit. What a covenant!
If God keeps this covenant, then He can be trusted to keep another covenant andsend One to die for the sins of man. IfGod keeps this covenant, He can be trusted to forgive the sins of those whobelieve in Jesus!
Application: WheneverI see the rainbow, my heart should rejoice that I am loved by a covenantkeeping God. The rainbow is visibleproof! I serve a covenant keepingGod! I must remember that God expects meto keep my promises too!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, that you keep your promisesis very important to me. Remind me thatme, keeping my promises, is very important to you! Amen
