March 19, 2020: SOAP #3759: Joshua 3-6; 1Corinthians 4
Scripture: 1Corinthians (NIV) 4:20 For the kingdom of Godis not a matter of talk but of power.
Observation: Thisverse reminds me of the sons of Sceva who tried to cast out demons with theirwords. (Acts 19:13-17) The demons attacked them and chased them away. Their words had no power to bringdeliverance.
The kingdom of God is a structure of authority under God's control. Being in the kingdom does affect how I speak, but if it does not affect how I live, it is not His Kingdom. God's kingdom has the power to change my lifeand to change my circumstances. It hasthe power to make changes that are visible.
Application: The power of the kingdom changes me then usesme to change others. Others can see thechanges in me, and the changes God uses me to bring to others.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to do more than talk agood life; help me to live a good life. Work in me and through me so that others can see your power. Amen
NOTE: In these Daily SOAPs I have been expecting God to give me a devotion that would apply to the COVID-19. I was thinking that He might not be as concerned about it as I am. But the truth: He knows that the best way for me to face the future and what it holds, is to be full of His Word and walking in His Spirit! As I am faithful to be in His Word, the Holy Spirit will make sure I have what I need to face each day!
