William Robert "Bill" McAdoo, 70, died March 6, 2013, at Select Medical Center, Wichita. He was born June 26, 1942, in Wichita, the son of William Albert "Red" and Nora Ann (Scobee) McAdoo.

Bill had retired from the Pratt County Road Dept. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army and retired as Sergeant First Class from the Army National Guard, where he was an instructor of Army Reserves, serving 23 years.

He was a life member of the NRA, life member of VFW in Pratt, and a member of Disabled American Veterans.

On Sept. 20, 1961 he married Carol Ann Ruggles at Fort Knox, Ky. Bill married Gail Briggs June 23, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, William McAdoo and Robert and wife Michelle McAdoo, all of Pratt; two daughters, Kristy and husband Nick Unrein, Hutchinson, and Heather McAdoo and fiance David Stener, Pratt;two brothers, Larry and wife Pat Spurgeon, Kingsland, Texas, and Butch Scobee, El Dorado; five sisters, Sally and husband Doug Byers, El Dorado, Mary Ellen Arterburn and husband Mike Mozingo, Wichita, Connie and husband Sam Langhofer, Benton, Mary Campbell, Wichita, and Nancy Spurgeon, Ottawa; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father. Red and wife Betty McAdoo and his mother Nora and husband Ervin Spurgeon; two brothers, Ronnie and Dwight Spurgeon; three sisters, Carol Jo McAdoo, Clara Trudeau and Darlene Moak; one grandson, Christopher Woody and great-grandson Braeden McAdoo.

Funeral services with military honors and celebration of Bill's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the Wellsford Community Church with Pastor John Hamm officiating.
