South Wind Hospice is calling their April 27 fund-raiser "Styles-Spangles-Spirits." It's the annual champagne brunch and purse auction, with the addition of a style show and additional accessories to bid on, including scarves, jewelry and sunglasses.

Because of conflicts, it's not being held during Mother's Day weekend, but it's still a good opportunity for mothers and daughters or groups of friends to share an enjoyable morning.

"We've got some great purses," said community relations director Joy Schwartz, mentioning brand names such as Coach, Dooney and Bourke and possibly a Kate Spade, all donated by individuals. Most items are new this year; a couple are "gently loved," she said.

A fashion show, featuring clothing from local retailers Lisa's Western Wear, Maurices, Cross Roads and Stitch by Stitch Fashion Emporium, will add another element to the event.

Schwartz suggested that a woman could buy her accessories — purse, scarf and jewelry — at the fund-raiser, then visit the participating stores to get the outfit to go along with them.

All money raised is used directly for patients or supplies needed by patients of South Wind Hospice, Schwartz said.

The event is being held at the home of Randy and Terryl Henderson. The planned garden party will be moved inside to the Episcopal Church in case of inclement weather.
