YRP Films announced this week that Brittnee Ann Hill, a senior at Pratt High School, has been cast as Ozzie Yost, the lead role in "Somewhere Between Freedom and Protection, Kansas," a short film shooting in Kiowa County and surrounding areas at the beginning of July.

Hill, a star southpaw for the Greenbacks last season, received first team selection and a slew of honors for leading the varsity softball team to an undefeated regular season and a third place finish at the state tournament.

Active in local dramatics, Hill has performing in Pratt High School and Pratt Community College productions of "Little Shop of Horrors," "South Pacific," and "The Tempest." This summer she can be seen as a member of the ensemble cast of "Les Miserables" at the Music Theatre of Wichita June 26-30.

"Brittnee is an excellent actor and we are lucky to have her," said writer/director Patrick Clement. "We held casting sessions in Wichita and Los Angeles. Finding a young woman of her abilities right next door is a God-send. The kind of talent and dedication she has; it's very exciting."

The film, shooting in Kiowa, Comanche, Pratt and Ford counties in early July, explores the exodus of young people from rural Kansas through the story of a young aspiring southwest Kansas newspaper writer.

Patrick Clement is an LA-trained film director and former editor of the Kiowa County Signal Newspaper in Greensburg. He will be in incoming transfer student in August to the University of Kansas Film and Television Department.
