One man is in serious condition and another in jail following a stabbing incident in Stafford Sunday evening.

Ricky Gossman of Hutchinson is in serious condition at Wesley Medical Center after he was stabbed in the 200 block of South Park in Stafford shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday.

Stafford Police and Stafford County Sheriff officers responded to the call and discovered Gossman with two stab wounds, according to the Stafford Police Department.

Stafford County EMS transported Gossman to Stafford County Hospital where he was later transferred to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of possible internal injuries and remains in serious condition.

His alleged assailant, Frank Sherbon of Stafford, was taken to Stafford County Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released then transported to Barton County Jail where he was booked on charges of aggravated battery. His bond is set at $75,000.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Stafford Police Department and Stafford county Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident with assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
