A General Electric worker was injured July 3 after he fell 126 feet from a wind generator at the NextEra Energy wind farm.
A construction worker is in a Wichita hospital after falling approximately 126 from a wind generator at the NextEra Energy’s Ninnescah Energy wind farm currently under construction in the southeast section of Pratt County.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. on July 3 at the construction site six miles south and four miles east of Pratt. Pratt County Sheriff’s Office, Pratt County EMS and Pratt County Rescue responded to the accident.
A worker was doing repairs on a wind generator when he fell approximately 126 and landed on his back in the mud. The worker was conscious and talking with rescue personnel, according to a press release from the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office.
Another worker, who was wearing his safety harness, was trapped at the same height for several minutes before he could free and lower himself into a construction basket then down to the ground.
The injured worker was transported to a Wichita hospital.
As of noon, July 3, no name or age of the worker not the extent of his injuries could be confirmed.
General Electric employs the workers who were repairing the blades on one of the wind generators.
Pratt County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.
