SAWYER, KS — Harold Dean Rose, 79, died August 30, 2017 at Leisure Homestead, St. John, Kansas. He was born May 21, 1938 in Larmar, Oklahoma, the son of Fred A. Rose and Annabell A. Mitchell Rose. He married Ursla Francine Honeman, who died July 17, 2005. He was a retired postmaster of Sawyer and Coldwater, Kansas.

Harold served as a parachute rigger for four years in the United States Air Force, from 1957-1961. He was the mayor of Sawyer and served on the city council and with the Sawyer Fire Department in the early 1970's. After retiring from the post office he bought a truck which he drove for D & R Trucking, Pratt, Kansas. He spent much of his later years as a caregiver for his wife Francine, and other family members.

He is survived by one son, Joseph 'Josh' Rose, Pratt, and one daughter, Cassi Rinke, Pratt, and a brother, Orville Rose, Holdenville, Oklahoma and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Arlen Lee (Rose) Treat.

Mr. John Cromer will officiate a graveside memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Sunset Cemetery, Cullison, Kansas. Arrangements handled by Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, 115 E. Fourth, Pratt, Kansas 620-672-5531.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Lemon Park Lights, in care of the mortuary.
