Norman “Huston” Mills, 90, of Lake City, KS passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge, KS.
He was born April 6, 1927 on the Taylor Nichols Ranch, southeast of Lake City, KS, the son of Tempel and Mima (Draper) Mills. On October 21, 1948, he married Lois Irene Kenworthy in Wichita, KS.
Huston was a 1945 graduate of Lake City High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served during World War II. Huston made his life as a farmer/rancher on the Mills Ranch, west of Lake City. He was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church and the Masonic Delta Lodge #77. He was a founding board member of Rural Water District No. 3 and served the district until 2016.
Surviving are his wife, Lois, of Lake City, KS and one daughter, Vickie (Ted) Lukens, of Medicine Lodge, KS. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Adam (Felicia) Mills of Lake City, KS; Leslie (Ryan) Martin of Richardson, TX; and Landon (Kelli) Lukens of Holcomb, KS; eight great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Huston was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Husty; and his sister, Tonkajo Mills McElyea.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastors Tom Walters and Kathy Webster officiating. Masonic rites will be by the Delta Lodge #77. Graveside services will follow at Lake City Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
