SAWYER — Arthena Helen (Wray) Brubaker was born on June 21, 1930 at Sawyer Ks, to John I. and Etta (Flory) Wray She went to be with the Lord on November 26th at the age of 87 years. Mother accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized on August 4th, 1946 at the age of 16 with five of her close friends and was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church- New Conference to which she remained faithful all her life.

She was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Donald Brubaker, on August 16th, 1947. They enjoyed 70 wonderful years of married life together.

Their home was blessed with 4 children.

In January 1960, they were called to the office of Deacon, to which they served faithfully.

In July of 1960, the family circle was broken, when Sheldon Gail was carried to be ‘Safe in the arms of Jesus’ due to an accident.

Mother and Dad walked hand in hand through this time of grief together with the Lord’s help and support of their church family.

They lived on a farm southeast of Sawyer, Kansas, for 66 years. Mother worked tirelessly by Dad’s side in the dairy barn and on the farm, in addition to meeting the families’ needs day by day. She also enjoyed preparing meals and extending hospitality to one and all. They enjoyed traveling among the brethren and their winters spent in Florida.

The example of her faith in God, her loving care, and concern for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, will always be remembered.

Mother is survived by her loving husband, Donald, sons, Randy and wife Carol, Doug and wife Kathy, all of Sawyer, Ks, daughter Joy Elaine Siroky and husband Brad of Edmond, Oklahoma.  She was a special Grandma to her 11 grandchildren, Rachelle & Rodney Miller, Regina & Rico Grant, Beth & Darwin Fisher, Darren & Alissa Brubaker, Beth & Ivan Miller, April & Dustin Denlinger, Brandon Siroky, Brandy & Coby Tresner, Bryce Siroky, Kodi & Kim Siroky, Kole Siroky, and her 24 great grandchildren.  Also, Sister in law, Helen Wray, Brother in law and Sister in law Joel and Lorraine Brubaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents John I and Etta Wray, Son Sheldon Gail, Sister Evelyn Peters, Brother J. Donald Wray, infant brother Harold Wray, Father in law and Mother in law Everett and Hazel Brubaker.

Mother fell on November 7th, then on November 20th she was air flighted to Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City due to further complications where she took her Heavenly Flight.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4-8 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 50237 SE 90th St., Sawyer, KS.  Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sawyer.
