The McPherson High School wrestling team picked up a pair of dual wins Thrusday night at home. The Bullpups are now 3-0 in duals this season after easily handling Chapman and Smoky Valley.

McPherson began the day by defeating Chapman 57-6. Mya Kretzer started things off by pinning her opponent in 54 seconds at 106. Brynton Crews (138), Jonah Clarke (145), Scott Radke (152), Landon Frantz (160), Luke Thompson (182), Bailey Yarborough (195), and Wayne Hitt (285) all won by falls against Chapman.

Rhett Edmonson at 120 also picked up a 7-2 win to aid the Bullpups.

Against Smoky Valley, McPherson won 11 of the 14 entries en route to a 60-12 victory. Kretzer, Landon Crews, Brynton Crews, Clarke, Radke, and Kourney Craig all won by fall.

The Vikings were open at 120, 126, and 132, while picking up wins at 160 (Dax Hopp), 170 (Cort Elliott), and 285 (Ethan Wampler).

Against Chapman, Smoky Valley fell 48-27. Braunson Golden (106) and Devon VanFosson (113) picked up wins to give the Vikings an early 12-0 lead, but Chapman responded with 24 straight points — 18 of which came from Smoky Valley being open at three spots. The teams then split the remaining eight matches, with Smoky Valley picking up wins at 145 (Chase Pywell), 160 (Hopp), 182 (Dylan Archuleta), and 285 (Wampler).

The McPherson wrestling team is back in action on Friday when they hit the road to Colby to participate in their first tournament of the season.

Smoky Valley travels to Clay Center on Saturday to take part in a tournament hosted by Clay Center Community High School.
