Property owners with property on the county tax sale list are reminded that they cannot bid on their own property.

Property owners with properties on the Pratt County tax sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 at the first floor of the courthouse are reminded that they will not be allowed to bid on their own property at the tax sale. Bidders have to represent that they have no delinquent taxes owed in Pratt County and are not a close relative of the owner.

Owners with tax delinquent properties may redeem a property prior to the sale by paying the delinquent taxes to the Pratt County Treasurer by Friday, Jan. 5. The tax sale covers certain properties with at least three years of delinquent property taxes.

The sale is for cash or check paid in full at the conclusion of the sale. Title acquired through a tax sale may not be adequate to acquire commercial title insurance without additional legal action.

As of January 2, 2018, there are 32 properties subject to sale. The properties subject to sale as of January 2, 2018, include several rural properties, residences and vacant lots in the City of Pratt, and various properties in Cullison, Coats, Preston, Iuka, Sawyer and Hopewell.

A copy of the Notice of Sale listing the properties scheduled for sale as of January 2nd is posted on the bulletin board near the north entry to the Pratt County Courthouse.
