DODGE CITY — Gerald J. Herrman, 91, died January 13, 2018 at Manor of The Plains in Dodge City. He was born on June 25, 1926 at Liebenthal, Kansas the son of Bart and Dorothy (Schaffer) Herrman.

He married Virginia Scoggins on May 26, 1947 in Dodge City, she preceded him in death on November 19, 2016. Mr. Herrman loved playing baseball in his younger years and was avid bowler for over 30 years. He worked as a John Deere part salesman and was part owner of the Herrman Implement Company in Ensign. Mr. Herrman in his spare time loved going and watching his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved to hunt and fishing in his spare time as well.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Knights of Columbus, Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 all of Dodge City.

He is survived by one son John Herrman and wife Patty of Dodge City; two daughters Linda Conkle and husband Larry of Pratt; Donna Robinson and husband Bill of Dodge City and one brother Clarence and wife Neola Herrman of Ensign. Mr. Herrman is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from noon to 5:00 p.m. A Vigil service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund or Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or Manor of The Plains in care of the funeral home.
