PRATT – Lillian Fern Besser, 94, left this world to be with her God March 14, 2018 at Pratt.

She was born July 6, 1923 at Spearville, the daughter of Verner (correct spelling) and Cecelia Tepe Chamberlin. Lillian Chamberlin-Kisner and John Besser were married on June 16, 1947 in the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kinsley by Father Cody.  Lillian lived in Spearville, Ks prior to their marriage.  Lillian had a son, William Edward Besser-Kisner from her marriage to William Kisner.  William Kisner was killed during a training expedition while serving in the Army.  John and Lillian had two children, Barbara and Robert (Bob) Besser. John adopted William (Bill) after their marriage. 

John and Lillian lived their married life in Kinsley.  Lillian was a homemaker, hardworking, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.  She was involved in many activities at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, loved growing flowers and cooking for family dinners.  John and Lillian moved to Pratt in July of 2001.  John resided at the Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center.  Lillian lived close by at the Hillside Terrace High Rise and spent most of her afternoons at the Residence Center with John. John and Lillian celebrated their 50th Anniversary in June, 1992 with a reception for family and friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, John who died, March 13, 2005 and a brother Edwin Chamberlin and sister, Betty Snider and a granddaughter McKenzie Besser.

Other survivors include sons, Bill (LaDonna) Besser, Dodge City, Robert (Sherry) Besser, Pratt and daughter, Barbara (Scott) Hanzlicek, Hutchinson and eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 332 N. Oak, Pratt with Father Michael Klag presiding. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Kinsley.
