A Pratt Greenback All-Star softball player is up for a CatchyAward at and should votes go her way, those who know her agree she is worthy.
Brianna Cruz, upcoming Pratt High senior led her team for the past two years at the plate and in the field at third base.
“I had a really good season this year hitting .623 batting average with 41 RBI’s and beating three PHS softball records which were the career home run record, season batting average record and season RBI record,” Cruz said. ”I tied one record this year which was the most doubles in a season and that added up to be 15.”
Garcia said she was happy about the CatchyAward nomination and hoped it would help colleges notice her as her goal is to play at the next level following her final prep season in the coming year.
“Brianna had a great year, actually two great years in a row,” said Pratt Athletic Director David Swank. “She led her team in batting to third place in state last year and this year was an All-League first team selection, and All-State first team. We are very proud of her.”
Voting for the 11th annual Catchys is now underway at Anyone can vote for their favorite selected Kansas high school athletics representing the best in the state and worthy of postseason honors. This year there are 32 categories with representatives from 60 schools across the CatchItKansas coverage area. Voting remains open until July 13.
The four athletes in Cruz’ category are Macie Eck - Andale/Garden Plain,  Kaylin Watkins - Bishop Carroll,   Brianna Cruz - Pratt, and Sydni Hawkins - Wichita Southeast.
