PRATT, KANSAS — Leland “Lee” M. Queal, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was born November 10, 1933 in Pinckney, Michigan to Laurence R. and Helen H. (McBride Hollinsworth) Queal. On September 10, 1960, he married Jane (Walsworth) Queal in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Lee earned his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He worked as a Wildlife Biologist for Kansas Wildlife and Parks and then Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of  Pratt Christian Fellowship, Diamond Life Member of Ducks Unlimited, American Legion Post 86, Wildlife Society, Kansas Ornithological Society, Nature Conservancy and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He served in the United States Coast Guard at the conclusion of the Korean war.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Lauren (Wayne) Sill of Hutchinson, Don (Donna) Queal of Pratt, and Dennis (Wendy) Queal of Manhattan; four grandchildren, Brody Queal of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shelby and Collin Queal of Manhattan and Meredith Queal of Pratt; nephew, William V. (Debbie) Backlund of Hamburg, Michigan; sister in-law, Kay S. Wilhelm of Littleton, Colorado; and niece, Carly S. Wilhelm of Wichita.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jacqueline Backlund; and nephew, Laurence George Backlund.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt with John Hamm presiding. Inurnment with Military Honors will be scheduled at a later date at Hamburg Township Cemetery, Hamburg, Michigan
