Marvin Keith Pfeifer, age 68, of Pratt, Kansas, died at St Francis Via Christi Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from complications following extensive heart surgery on May 30th.

Marvin Pfeifer was born March 14, 1950 to Harold and Margaret (Penner) Pfeifer in Langdon, North Dakota. He was raised on a farm near Langdon and was educated in the Langdon school system, was very active in Future Farmers of America and graduated from Langdon High School in 1968. He matriculated North Dakota State University in Fargo and graduated in 1972 with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Following graduation, he began working for Borho Farms of Langdon, North Dakota custom harvesting which took him south to Sharon, Kansas and custom cutting his way back to North Dakota during wheat harvest with the crew. They often stopped in Pratt for repair parts at Kincheloe Implement. In 1974, Marvin and David Borho were approached by owner, Jack Kincheloe, who encouraged them to purchase the farm equipment dealership from him.  This arrangement was finalized in November 1975 and he and David have been business partners since that time.

Marvin and David were also engaged in farming operations around Pratt and in Langdon, North Dakota. Marvin purchased The Servateria Restaurant in Pratt which he operated. Marvin enjoyed hard work to the point of being a “workaholic” which was evident by owning two businesses as well as farming, working long hours which did not allow him much time for other outside activities, other than family.

Marvin was united in marriage to Donna Meier on April 29, 1983 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt. Their son, Scott, was born on November 28, 1989 and became their pride and joy. Marvin enjoyed watching Scott play basketball and was thrilled when Scott joined him on the trips to North Dakota to visit relatives. Marvin was proud of Scott as he matured into a fine young man who graduated from the University of Kansas.

Marvin is survived by his son, Scott A. Pfeifer; former wife, Donna (Meier) Pfeifer; siblings, Wayne (Patricia) Pfeifer of Lincoln, North Dakota, Corinne (Reverend Kenneth) Kirchenwitz of Dent, Minnesota and Merlin (Janine) Pfeifer of Devils Lake, North Dakota; his business partner of 44 years, David (Glenna) Borho; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
