PRATT — Ivan H. Phillips, 93, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Parkwood Village in Pratt. He was born August 27, 1925 in Southwest Barber County to Everett and Nancy (Septer) Phillips.

In 1927 the family moved to Lake City where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1943. Later in 1943 he was drafted into the military service where he served in the Army Air Corp for two and a half years. One year in the South Pacific flying as a gunner for thirteen combat missions and later as an engineer on a B-24 Liberator. He was honorably discharged from the service with the rank of Sergeant at the age of twenty.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, life member of VFW Post #1362 and life member of American Legion Post #86 all of Pratt and he served in most offices of both Posts.

He married Goldie “Jean” (Hickson) on June 20, 1967 in Pratt. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2013.

Survivors include two sons, Ace (Janet) Phillips of Lawrence, KS and Daniel (Michelle) Phillips of San Antonio, TX, a daughter, Janet (Wilbur) Tubbs of Bentonville, AR, 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ester Mary Freeman, a brother Boyd Phillips, a son Jack Robertson, and a daughter Mary McCarroll.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt with Pastor Jan Blasi presiding.  Burial with military honors will follow at Lake City Cemetery, Lake City, KS.
