The Pratt Greenbacks defeated Colby 33-16 to claim the district champion ship. They face undefeated Smokey Valley in Lindsborg on Friday, Nov. 9.
Pratt High football continues their playoff run to earn the title of district champions. They beat Colby last Friday 33-16.
Caden Blankenship started off the game with a 5-yard carry for a touchdown. Soon after Colby came back with a touchdown and a two-point conversion to bring the score to 7-8.
The Greenbacks didn’t back down and scored two more touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and held Colby to zero. They ended the half with a score of 20-8.
Pratt finished off the game strong with Travis Theis throwing a 38-yard pass to Brett Winsor and scoring a 10-yard run. They won with a score of 33-16.
The seniors on the team have helped keep the Greenbacks with an undefeated record. “This year's senior class has drawn upon their experience to lead the way in work ethic and preparation not only during the season, but throughout the summer months,” said head coach Jamie Cruce.
The Greenbacks travel to Lindsborg this Friday to compete against Smokey Valley.
“Smoky Valley is a very physical team which has shown the ability to dominate on the offensive and defensive lines. We will need to play with great pad level and technique as well as be sure tacklers,” said Cruce.
Smokey Valley is one of the four teams that are undefeated in the 3A playoffs west bracket.
“We expect a physical football game in which we will need to play our best in order to have success,” Cruce said.
The Greenbacks are now ranked No. 5 in state 3A football.
