PRATT, KANSAS — Gloria Jean Smith Petersen, 72, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018.  She was born April 5, 1946 in Pratt to Anfred and Vivian (Adams) Smith. 

Gloria grew up on the farm southeast of Haviland, graduating from Cullison High School. She worked hard all of her life in the food industry and caring for others as a CNA later in life.

After living in Mulvane and Derby, Kansas, she moved to Hendricks, Minnesota when her husband retired, adding many more friends to her life. She enjoyed having her family come to visit and explore the area. She moved back to Kansas in 2016, settling in Pratt.

Survived by daughter’s, Lori (Roger) Rankin of Wichita and Becky Moore of Midwest City, OK; stepdaughter, Sandy Sells and her sister Debbie Jalil; grandchildren, David, Kenny, Ashley, Jessica  and Cameron Rankin, Blake and Shelby Moore and  Anisa Jalil; father, Anfred Smith; siblings, Janice (Don) Urban of Wichita and Morris (Kay) Smith of Haviland; sister-in-law, Linda Knott; brother-in-laws, Bill Petersen and Leon Petersen; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Petersen and mother, Vivian Smith.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary. Burial will be held at a later time at Sunset Cemetery, Cullison.
