A combination of high speed and erratic driving led to a crunch-and-munch on U.S. Highway 54/400 on the east side of Pratt late Monday afternoon.

A Wichita man was injured following a two-vehicle accident on the east side of Pratt on March 11.
Gerald Patterson, 77 of Wichita, was westbound on U.S. 54 in a 2008 Ford Taurus when he crashed into the rear end of a 2013 Ford flatbed pickup, also westbound, and driven by Curtis Garten, 61 of Pratt, according to Pratt County Sheriff Jimmy White.
The white Taurus went across the ditch and came to a stop, upright, in the parking lot at 54 Pickup. The front of the Taurus sustained considerable damage in the collision. The flatbed pickup, belonging to Hampel Oil, had much less damage.
Pratt County EMS transported Patterson to Pratt Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. Garten was not transported. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident that was reported at 5:44 p.m.
