Pratt High School softball players got a pair of wins at Hillsboro last week, starting off the 2019 season strong.

The Pratt High softball team got the season started with a pair of wins against Hillsboro on Tuesday, March 26.
The girls started off a bit rusty in the first game, getting down 0-1 by the second inning and staying there until the sixth inning. However, once they adjusted to the pitcher, they were able to get their rhythm and score 3 runs to take the lead.
They continued to fight and won the game 7-2.
“Overall, we didn't panic after a slow start. We kept our composure and put together a couple good innings to close out game one. That momentum carried over to game two,” said coach Mike Forshee.
The girls came back aggressive in the second game, scoring 6 runs in the first inning. They continued to attack the ball on offense and run ruled Hillsboro in five innings with a score of 21-7.
“Obviously we have a ways to go, but I took a lot of positives from our first time on the diamond. Our pitching and defense was pretty sound. Offensively we came around and had a good day,” said Forshee.
The girls travel to Larned next Tuesday for their second doubleheader of the season.
