First meet at Andover has successful results for Greenbacks.

Pratt High School track athletes competed in their first meet of the year last Thursday, March 28 at Andale.
Since athletes from all skill levels competed at the meet, there were no team scores. However, Derek Liggett, the head coach, was impressed with how his team began the season.
Notable achievements for Liggett included junior Dylan Cox who earned 2nd in the 100M with a time of 11.56, a personal record.
“We expect that kids are going to set PR's and improve each season, but usually they don't do it in the first meet,” said Liggett.
Kaityn Rasmussen, a senior, also had a great first meet out in the high jump. She won with a jump of 5’2.
“She has been a good jumper for PHS the past three seasons but she looked much more confident this past week and her approach looked the best it ever has.”
Liggett said Brett Winsor had an impressive first meet as well, earning 1st with a time of 40.90 in the 300M hurdles. Liggett said he expects Winsor to be one of the top hurdlers in the state if he continues like this throughout the season. He also received 2nd in the long jump.
“I thought our throwers overall had a pretty solid first outing,” said Liggett. “We have some decent depth on both the boys and girls throwing events and I think this could be an area that really helps us at the league and regional meet.”
Weather cooperating, the track athletes will make their second appearance this Friday at Great Bend High School.
