The Skyline High School baseball team continues to show improvement in their first season of existence.
The Thunderbirds of Skyline High School competed in a doubleheader against the Indians of Medicine Lodge on Friday. The T-Birds lost both games 0-28 and 0-18, but several underclassmen on the team were able to have quality at-bats and put the ball in play. Freshman Mitchell White went 2 for 2 with a single and a double and fellow freshman Jesus Casas went 2 for 4 with two singles. Hunter Berens, a sophomore went 1 for 3 with a single.
"Our baseball knowledge has increased significantly, along with our pitching. We need to improve our defense and we need to hit better, we are striking out looking too much of the time," said head coach Zeke McPherson.
The senior recognition planned for April 12 was postponed and will happen at a later date.The T-Birds were back in action against Minneola at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16 in Pratt and late reports indicate Skyline won its first baseball game 13-8. Full story coming soon.
