Earth-moving machines continue to relocate tons and tons of dirt at the future home of the Pratt Community College soccer and track and field facility on the east side of the Green Sports Complex.
Much progress has been made over the last couple of weeks as the machines make pass after pass to move dirt from high spots and fill in the low areas in preparation for construction of the new facility.
The landscape has changed dramatically since the earth-moving machines went to work shortly after the ground breaking ceremony on April 4.
Unwanted trees have been removed, earth scrapers make pass after pass over the ground as the land is transformed. Equipment uses GPS to make sure the equipment is removing the right amount of earth and putting it where needed to build up the elevation.
Besides the track and soccer field, the new facility will feature a bleacher section, areas for shot put, javelin, discus, high jump, long jump, triple jump and pole vault plus a large parking lot and combination restroom and concessions stand and storage building.
The Law Company is the general contractor for the project.
A completion date has not yet been projected for the joint project.
