Pratt Community College supports gathered Friday for food, fun and fundraising to build scholarship funds.
It was an exciting night for an auction and the students at Pratt Community College were the big winners at the annual scholarship auction on April 26 in Dennis Lesh Arena at the college.
Barry Fisher, PCC Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations, said the auction set an all time record with $85,600 raised for scholarship money.
It was a packed house with tables covering the entire arena floor. Prior to the auction, Encore entertained with several vocal selections, there was a lively Name That Tune contest with winners receiving PCC inscribed items and a Great Western Dining Service meal sponsored by Janetta and Eddie Freeman.
There were 100 items available in the silent auction and 29 on the live auction list. An autographed Kansas State University basketball signed by player and St. John resident Dean Wade brought $750, a trip to Charleston, S.C. brought $3,100, structural pipe fetched $1,400, a piece of pottery by St. John artist Carol Long went for $650, a trip to Hollywood Beach, Fla. went for $1,100 and a KSU football package was $750 were among the many items at the auction.
A diamond dig with $20 tickets gave one lucky winner a choice of a jewelry prize donated by Parsons Jewelry. A Blue Line Raffle offered a prize package of a 40” TV and gift cards from Dillons, Family Food Store, Texas Roadhouse and Freddys. The winner of the TV donated it to the auction. The Blue Line package was donated by the PCC Foundation and Dillons and Family Food Store. There were also a couple of surprise items not featured in the program.
One bidder offered a $1,500 match that raised over $5,000. Not included on the auction list were a Tall Grass Country Club and Rolling Hills Country Club packages. Meat left over from supper was also auctioned off for two packages at $100 each. A photograph entitled Wine and Dinner, was also not on the list.
