On Wednesday, May 8, Skyline Schools honored Kris McPherson as the 2019 Teacher of the Year with a special reception.
McPherson has been teaching for 35 years with the majority of her time spent at Skyline Schools, 23 years to be exact.
Though she is currently a 5th-and 6th-grade language arts and social studies teacher, she has also taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, K-8 art, middle school language arts and social studies during her time as an educator.
“Watching the kids mature and realizing it is okay to make mistakes and laugh at yourself, along with the relationships that are honed by spending the many days we share in the classroom has been my favorite part of teaching,” McPherson said.
Mrs. Mac, as her students love to call her said that love for educating runs deep in her family. Her husband, Herb McPherson, is the middle school and high school principal at Skyline, and her two daughters and son all work for Skyline as well.
