Lois Tripe-Hope was born March 31, 1929 in Manhattan, KS, to Arthur and Bessie Cederberg and died August 16, 2019, at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, KS.
She married Gerhardt (Ace) L. Trimpe on September 26, 1948, in Manhattan, KS. Ace passed away December 22, 1990, and Lois later married James (Jim) R. Hope April 3, 1999. She became a widow again when Jim died January 27, 2003.
Lois was a self-employed beautician (and farm wife) at her home in rural Preston. After Ace’s death she later moved to Pratt and continued her hair styling business also in her home. She loved dancing and after Jim’s death she became acquainted with Ivan Phillips and they frequented dances at the Pratt Senior Center and also the Senior Center in Hutchinson, KS. One bitter cold snowy evening when the Highway Patrol was discouraging travel, her sons discovered that Lois and Ivan had gone to Hutchinson to dance. They were finally contacted by cell phone on their way home and Lois instructed us not to worry…there wasn’t much traffic on the road!
Lois also volunteered at the Food Bank, Senior Citizens Center, Pratt Museum, and Pilot Club. She also loved quilting with the Lutheran ladies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ace; husband Jim; sister Violet Justice and brother Richard Cederberg.
Lois is survived by her five children; daughter Linda (Mike) Woodman of Carson City, NV; son Gary (Corrine) of Preston, KS; daughter Jolene (Danny) Ring of Overland Park, KS; son Daryl (Tracy) of Pratt, KS and son Kirk of Iuka, KS. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Natrona, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hilltop Manor or the Food Bank in care of Larrison Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at www.larrisonmortuary.com
