An incident Monday morning is still somewhat of a mystery.
No one was injured Monday morning when a car caught fire in the Skyline parking lot shortly after 8 a.m. Precious Johnson, 30 of Pratt, had arrived at Skyline to pick up a 1999 Chrysler 300 her boyfriend had purchased on September 13. Everything appeared normal when the car was started then smoke and flame came out of the air conditioning vents, Johnson said.
It is unclear who was driving the car. Johnson said Nikki Woods was in the drivers seat when the fire started but Woods denied being in the car.
Two firefighting units from Township 12 responded to the call and had the fire knocked down quickly once they got to the site of the car fire. They were on site for about an hour, spraying water on the engine to cool it down.
Students were entering the school at the time of the incident and were inside the building but were not in any danger. No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
