SAWYER — Cleo Delphine Heape, age 90, passed peacefully on September 16, 2019 in El Dorado, Kansas. Delphine was born the youngest of six children on February 18, 1929 in Sawyer, Kansas to Joseph Herbert Tillotson and Florence Edna (Davis) Tillotson.
She grew up on a farm in Barber County riding horses and raising bottle lambs. She married Darrell L. Heape in Pratt, Kansas on June 1st 1946 and they spent 64 years together. Delphine was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, tending to her vegetable garden and chickens, and loved planting trees and flowers even though Darrell hated having to mow around them.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her sister Ruby Winters, four brothers Everett, Merle, Elton and Dean Tillotson, and her husband Darrell.
She is survived by a son Lane Heape of Great Bend, and two daughters; Lori (Bob) Ahlgrim of Hutchinson, and Kristi (Lynn) Sowell of El Dorado, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
No visitation, casket will remain closed. Graveside services will be held at Ellenwood Cemetery, Sawyer, Kansas on Saturday September 21st at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Steve Ward presiding.
