PRATT — Claude Carter Barker, 87, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born May 12, 1932 at in Pratt to Claude L. and Ethel Lorraine (Dumond) Barker. On November 11, 1951, he married Marjorie Ann (Sanders) Barker at the Pratt Christian Church. She survives.
Carter was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pratt where he taught senior high Sunday School for 40 years. He was a Charter Board Member of Pratt County Achievement Place and Pratt Teen Center. He was a previous member of the Pratt County Fair Board and Pratt Community College Beaver Booster Club. He was a season ticket holder for K-State football for 45 years. He was a lifetime Pratt Greenback Booster member. Carter only missed one home football game in 74 years. He loved football, John Wayne and collected old Studebakers. Carter played and sponsored a recreational basketball team since the 1950’s called Carter’s Aggies.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; son, Gary (RuthAnn) Barker of Pratt; daughter, Deb (Kent) Goyen of Pratt; grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Barker of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Bryce (Shannon) Barker of Ark City and Weston (Cassie) Goyen of Pratt; and great grandchildren, Katherine, Benjamin Carter and Ryan Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Loren Barker.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 P.M. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Pratt with Reverend Marvin Ewertt presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
