More than 50 students involved with "30 Horrible Catastrophers of Middle School."
Pratt's Liberty Middle School invites the public to attend their fall play, 30 Horrible Catastrophes of Middle School, by Kamron Klitgaard. The play, which features the talents of around 50 students, will be on Thursday, October 24th at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person to pay for scripts, supplies, and rights to perform the play. The auditorium will open to the public around 6:30 p.m.
The title of the play summarizes the script. Looking at 30 different issues that middle school students face, the cast has a fun time acting out those difficulties. Even as it deals with what can be serious problems, the play is a tongue-in-cheek comedy, and LMS students have had a fun time rehearsing the play. About ten Pratt High School students working as interns have contributed to rehearsals as well.
Director Rose Beilman divided the students into five groups based on scheduling conflicts, so that each group could work together. Plus, some students were cast in more groups because they had more time to rehearse.
Group A is a mixed-grade bunch from 5th-to-8th grade and includes Cross Country runners. Sadie Green, Allee Hopkins, Jesse Kemper, Dylan Lehman, Tiger Thompson, Kian Helfrich, Logan Goemann, Del Green, Taylor Creadick, Libby Shaffer, Luke Gatlin, and Levi Thibault perform.
Performing as part of Group B with loads of middle school antics are mostly volleyball players plus a few extras: Quinn Thibault, Keimarla Thompson, Ali Deda, Meagan Younie, Rayden Crow, Brenna Stegman, Tessa Schmidt, Amelia McCaskey, Jade Baker, Renee Hamm, Rielyn Fleming, Adelyn Fields, Kendra Prieto, Logan Goemann, and Del Green.
Group C includes mostly 5th and 6th graders: Taylor Creadick, Iliana Craft, Savannah Copus, Austin Hamm, Levi Thibault, Morgan McGreevy, Madilyn Bolen, Allison Goemann, Cadence Messick, Zoee Hopkins, Isabel Ordonez, and Thomas Schmidt.
Football players and cheerleaders primarily make up Group D: Hudson Rector, Jack Barker, Hanna Gordon, Sydney Riley, Blake Bare, Jade Barker, Jackson Baker, Reece Clark, Alejandro Ordonez, Dalton Slaughter, Trace Mehlhorn, Zoee Hopkins, and Allee Hopkins.
Group F is also a mixed-grade group. Performing with this group are Bailey Oltmanns, Carrie Drake, Dylan Lehman, Luke Gatlin, Sydney Riley, Maisy Fields, Morgan McGreevy, Brenna Stegman, Ali Deda, Kian Helfrich, Austin Hamm, Levi Thibault, Taylor Creadick, Savannah Copus, Iliana Craft, Madelyn Bolen, Thomas Schmidt, Libby Shaffer, and Kendra Prieto.
Assistant Director has been Tess Clarkson. High School interns include Lucas Baker, Darrian Cox, Madeline Drake, Alyssa Green, Amee Hidalgo, Kylee Hopkins, Kierra Messick, Kahrie Stegman, Hogan Thompson, and Nick Vail. High School students Bella Barker and Andrew Van Slyke will run lights.
Plan to attend the play performance on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 7 p.m. at Liberty Middle School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with tickets at $5 per person. Contact director Rose Beilman at email@example.com for more details.
