Mullinville - Cody Alan Sherer, 38, passed away August 14, 2021 at his home.
He was born on May 7, 1983, in Wichita, Kansas, to Rick and Cathy (Neelly) Sherer. He was a lifetime resident of Mullinville and was a 2002 graduate of Haviland high school and in May of 2003 he graduated from the Tulsa welding school.
Cody was a farmer and rancher on his family's farm Circle S Farms. He also had been with the Kiowa County Fire Department for 20 years and was their current Fire Chief. He enjoyed farming, firefighting, helping with the Medicine River Rodeo and was a member of the Southwest Kansas Task Force. Cody enjoyed being with his daughters and loved them very much.
On March 20, 2003 he married Megan Stotts at Mullinville, Kansas and they later divorced. She survives.
He is survived by his parents; his two daughters, Addison and Emerson Sherer, Mullinville, Kansas; his sister, Staci Eustace and husband Garrett, Weatherford, Oklahoma and their children, Truett, Henley and Everly; grandmother, Jackie Sherer, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, CJ and Ann Neelly, John Sherer and Ruth Marcotte, his aunt and uncle, Linda and Robert Rhodes.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Kiowa County Community Building at the fairgrounds with Jeff Blackburn officiating. The family asks that everyone please dress in "Cody Fashion" and there will be a friendship meal following the memorial service to continue the celebration of Cody's life. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. A private family burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date at the Hillcrest Cemetery and also on his farm.
