The Skyline cross country team took 9th at State cross country on Saturday. Jackson Wallace medaled.

The Skyline cross country team wrapped their season Saturday with a 9th place finish at the 2A State cross country meet in Wamego.

Freshman Jackson Wallace capped his inaugural season as a Thunderbird harrier with a trip to the state awards stand, pocketing the 19th place medal. Wallace ran an 18:18 on the challenging course to earn his hardware.

Not far behind was Erik Ghumm 27th 18:31. Colby Shriver finished in 19:30, good for 64th place.

Kyle Hampton 78th 20:30 and Keagan Davidson 87th 20:44 rounded out the T-Bird scoring.

Jonathan Wiltshire 94th 21:23 and Dalton Kenworthy 95th 21:24 were Skyline's pushers (displacers.)

The top three teams in Boys 2A State XC were Yates Center 61; Bennington 76; and Stanton County 118. Skyline was 9th with 195.

The individual title was won by Yates Center's Hadley Splechter at 16:05.

There were also two Lady Thunderbirds competing in the State meet as individuals. Neither broke into the medals, but both had competitive times/places. Senior Madison Tyler was 32nd 22:44. Katelynn McGraw finished 41st 23:15. There were 90+ runners in the race, so the T-Bird girls were both in the top half of the best 2A runners in the State.

Bennington dominated the girls race, scoring an amazing 24 pts. Ellinwoo was second with 121, edging out Berean Academy 122. Bennington's Halle Johnson captured the 2A girls individual title at 19:14.
