PHS boys golf got 5th at Halstead on Tuesday

It was a better day overall for the Pratt High School boys golf team on Tuesday when they teed it up at Halstead’s Wedgewood (not to be confused with Bushwood.)

Despite the challengingly blustery winds, some improved scores were turned in by the Frog linksters. Halstead won the meet on their home course with 349. PHS was 5th with a 405 total.

Kael Bridges and Casey Hoeme were each in the top 10 medalists: Kael Bridges 6th 92; Casey Hoeme 8th 94.

Other finishers for Pratt were Ethan Wilson 109; Beau Meyers 110; Will Mass 117.

David Mathes was forced to withdraw during the tournament on account of illness.

“It was great see us bounce back a little from our last tournament, particularly under the conditions we played,” observed Steve Landry, PHS head boys golf coach.

“Senior Kael Bridges had a career best back-9, posting a 40 which led him to a 6th place finish,” Landry added. “Sophomore Casey Hoeme also posted his best score while finishing 8th.”

“ Hopefully, things are going in the right direction for us as we prepare for our Home Tournament next Monday,” Coach Landry concluded.

Next week, the Greenbacks host their Home Invitational Monday at Park Hills. After a quick turnaround, they will compete in the Central Kansas League meet on Tuesday at Hesston.
