Sisters Eisley and Wren Neuhold make their way to the Twilight Theatre for the free kids summer film series in Greensburg.

The Twilight Theatre is providing free movies for kids the 5th summer in a row thanks to sponsorship by Haviland Broadband and Centera Bank.

“It is our mission to bring quality affordable entertainment to Kiowa County,” said General Manager George Ryan. “With the help of Haviland Broadband and Centera Bank over 5,000 children have seen these free movies in the last 5 years!”

This year there are eight different dates available for children and their families to go to the Twilight for some free entertainment. The theatre opens the concession stand for attendees, with regular prices on snacks and drinks. A new addition to the festivities this year is a raffle sponsored by the Kiowa County Health Department. When kids attend these movies, they can put their name in a drawing for free concession at the next movie.

Ryan believes these free summer films are good every summer, but this year they are especially needed in the community due to the lack of interaction many kids have dealt with due to COVID-19.

“We believe that especially now our children need to get back to close to normal lives. There needs to be things to look forward to, for the children as well as the parents,” said Ryan

The first free film of the summer is Angry Birds 2 on July 1. Next up is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on July 4. July 15 will feature the Emoji Movie and July 22 the Twilight will show Matilda. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is showing on July 29, followed by Smurfs: The Lost Village. Hotel Transylvania 3 plays on August 12, and the final movies of the series will be a double feature of Spider-Man: Homecoming & Spider-Man: Far From Home.
