Sonic Drive-In in Pratt suffered significant damage from a customer who accidentally drove into the building Wednesday evening. At about 6:53 p.m. Pratt city police officers responded to an accident at the restaurant, located at 1344 E. First Street in Pratt, according to Detective Jeff Ward.

Larry Conkle had struck the south-side lobby of the building with his 2011 Dodge Dakota after getting his food, with the vehicle in drive instead of reverse. Metal trusses were bent and the entire alcove was damaged in the accident, but no personnel or customer injuries were reported. Conkle was also uninjured.

Sonic was closed Wednesday after the accident, as there was also damage to the kitchen area. Pyle Custom Homes general contractor, the construction company which built the Sonic establishment 20 years ago, was busy repairing the damage Thursday morning.

While the damage was extensive to the south side of the building, Jeff Pyles, who was working on repairs along with Jeremy Howell, said they could be finished as soon as Thursday evening and the business would reopen either Thursday evening or Friday morning in Pratt.
