Scripture: Psalm (NIV) 23:2 He makes me lie down ingreen pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. Heguides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear noevil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint myhead with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I willdwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Observation: Thisis a psalm full of many promises. Itcontains 12 special promises that God does for His children. rest in green pastures, a drink from quietwaters, restoration, guidance, fearing no evil, comfort, supply, healing andjoy, etc. These are promises that we allcould enjoy, but they are not for everyone.
These promises are for those who, along with the author of this psalm can saywith confidence, 'The Lord is my shepherd.' (verse 1.) Not 'was my shepherd;' not 'will be myshepherd;' but IS My Shepherd!
Application: Ineed to walk with a continual awareness of the special relationship I have withThe Good Shepherd. I can trust Him. What He does is for my good. I give Him glory by learning His voice, goingwhere He goes, eating what He feeds, responding to His words, and followingclose to Him.
Prayer: Lord,You are my shepherd. There has neverbeen a better shepherd than you. Youcare for your sheep. Your sheep are yourconcern. It is good to be in yourcare. Amen
