Flying for freedom

Flag Day has been a state and local holiday, designated as a day to celebrate the creation of the stars and stripes design for the U.S. flag, on June 14 since as far back as 1777. Citizens all over Kansas flew flags on Sunday celebrating freedom, like this one on Oak Street in Pratt, as well as acknowledging that in 1949 President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.
