The Ellis Kenny Municipal Pool has no water yet, a result of delayed opening because of the COVID-19 virus. However, Pratt city commissioners have approved a pool-opening day for June 15, 2020, and the facility will soon be full of water, and happiness.

The Pratt public swimming pool is tentatively set for opening on an abbreviated schedule on Monday, June 15, on authority of Pratt city commissioners who approved the action recommended by Pratt City Manager Bruce Pinkall at the Monday night’s regular city commission meeting.

Wading pools are not being opened at this time. Hours for the large pool are tentatively set for Monday through Friday 12 to 1 p.m. adult lap swimming and 1 to 6 p.m. for open swimming. Saturday hours will be 1 to 6 p.m. open swim and Sunday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. swim. The daily user fee will be the same as in past years.

Pinkall said that for the initial opening the slide would not be up and there would be no concessions. Details about the opening will be posted on the City of Pratt website and Facebook page.

“It’ll be a way for kids to enjoy their afternoons,” Pinkall said. “We’re opening conservatively and may change as we go.”

Pratt City Hall is also now opened for business with safety precautions in place, Pinkall said.
