Lenora E. Tresner, 83, of Garden City, and a former Parsons resident, died Friday evening, March 26, 2010, at her home in Garden City. Death followed a lengthy period of failing health.


Lenora E. Tresner, 83, of Garden City, and a former Parsons resident, died Friday evening, March 26, 2010, at her home in Garden City. Death followed a lengthy period of failing health.
She was born in Parsons on Feb. 11, 1927, to William and Maude Carter Sharp. She grew up and attended school in Parsons. In Parsons she helped in her family business, which was a service station.
She lived in California before settling in Garden City in 1950. She had a newspaper distribution route for the Wichita, Hutchinson, Denver and U.S.A. Today papers for 19 years.  
On October 9, 1943, she married Lee Tresner in Parsons.  He died On October 28, 1984.
Mrs. Tresner was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Garden City. She was a devout Catholic and an avid K.U. fan. She loved quilting and embroidering and made quilts for all her children. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: four sons and their wives, Leon and Kathy, Pratt, Lee, Jr. and Mary, Nacogdoches, Texas, Leslie and Susan, Cimarron, and LeWayne and Becky, Pratt; four daughters and their husbands, Nonalea Tresner, Garden City, Noralee and Philip Bertholf, Dodge City, Normalee and Jim White, Campobello, S.C., and Natalie Tresner, Scott City;  23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a brother, J.D. Sharp, Fort Worth, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leland; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Virginia Shelden and Andrew Newsome, who have helped provide much care for her in recent months.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons at their convenience after  12 noon  on Tuesday.
